What is the best time of day to shower? About two-thirds of people shower every day, but there is an ongoing debate about whether we should shower in the morning or in the evening.
Doctor Jason Singh posted a video in which he claims that an evening shower is even better because it improves sleep quality, removes pollutants and hydrates dry skin.
“Shower in the evening has more benefits. The morning shower has only one advantage, which is that it promotes better hygiene,” he said.
The doctor explained that a warm shower stimulates the release of melatonin, a hormone that tells the body it’s time to sleep. This was confirmed by a meta-analysis of 17 studies from 2019.
“Shower at night helps to wash away the day’s impurities. In the morning we are not so sweaty and we do not have an unpleasant smell,” says Singh
Those with dry skin or conditions such as acne and eczema may also benefit from an evening scrub. Singh says that showering in the evening can hydrate our skin better.
